This policy applies to every workshop, event, and program we sell or host, paid or free. By registering, whether you check the box at checkout or confirm a free or guest registration, you agree to it. The page for each offer lists its date, location, what's included, and any guarantee. Those details are part of this policy.
1. Our events are filmed
Live events are recorded on video and audio, and we may take photos. Being filmed is a condition of attending: if you don't want to be filmed, please don't register.
2. What stays private: your practice talks
- Your practice talks, and the coaching you get on them, are private. We never post them publicly.
- If your registration includes footage review, you'll privately receive your own footage as described on the offer page. Guests receive their footage on request.
- We may use this footage internally to improve our coaching. If we ever want to share a clip of one of your talks, we'll ask you first, and we'll post it only with your written permission for that specific clip.
3. What may be shared publicly
- Volunteer demonstrations. Sometimes Joseph asks for a volunteer to come up and demonstrate something. If you volunteer, you agree that footage and photos of it may be used publicly, in any media, including to promote or teach our programs.
- Room shots. Wide shots and audience reactions may be used the same way, so you may appear in the background or reacting in the room. We won't use a room shot that shows someone giving a practice talk.
- How we use it: we may edit for length and clarity, but never to misrepresent or embarrass you. You won't be paid for it. We won't publish your full name or employer without asking.
- If you'd rather not appear: don't volunteer for demonstrations. If a post shows you and you want it gone, email joseph@josephvanderstel.com and we'll remove it from our own accounts. We can't recall ads that have already run or copies other people have made.
4. Other participants' privacy
- Don't record, photograph, or post other participants or their talks.
- What people share in the room and in group chats stays there.
5. Participation
- Every exercise is explained before it starts. You decide how much to take part.
- This is coaching. It is not therapy or medical treatment.
- You must be 18 or older.
- We may ask anyone who disrupts an event or harasses someone to leave.
6. Refunds, transfers, and guarantees
- Can't attend? You can transfer your seat to someone else by emailing us before the event. The new attendee must agree to this policy. Missed or unused seats aren't refunded.
- If we cancel an event, you get a full refund.
- Guarantees: if an offer's page includes a guarantee, you're covered under the terms stated there. If you're refunded under a guarantee, you keep anything already delivered, and we no longer owe anything that hasn't been delivered yet (such as footage or follow-up sessions).
- Free and guest registrations have no refund.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Joseph VanderStel, LLC, its staff, and its venue partners are not responsible for personal outcomes of taking part, or for loss of or damage to your belongings. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid.
